The International Association of Infant Massage is the gold standard in baby massage in over 70 countries. It is the largest and longest standing worldwide association solely dedicated to baby massage. The international curriculum has been developed and reviewed by a team of leading experts over many decades, drawing on principles from Indian massage, Swedish massage, yoga and reflexology, as well as modern scientific research, so that you can trust you are learning safe and effective strokes for your baby.
‘The purpose of the IAIM is to promote nurturing touch and communication through training, education and research so that parents, caregivers and children are loved, valued and respected throughout the world community.’
IAIM Mission Statement
The IAIM was founded in the early 1980s by Vimala McClure to bring this ancient art, of connecting deeply with your baby through massage, back to so many cultures where it had been forgotten. The UK Chapter was founded in 1997 and I trained as a Certified Infant Massage Instructor (CIMI) in London in 2016.
I am so proud to be part of a network of wonderful CIMIs across the country and the globe. I am fortunate that I enjoy Continued Professional Development with the IAIM, attending regular Stroke Refreshers, AGMs, training days and meeting other CIMIs so that I am confident in delivering the best possible experience for each family that I have the privilege to work with.
Our ethos is all about empowering parents, listening to babies and promoting bonding through loving touch. In this IAIM baby massage course, you will learn more than massage strokes. You will be welcomed into a circle of parents who support each other, share ideas and cry happy and sad tears together over organic refreshments each class. At the IAIM, we recognise that you are the expert in your baby, and we are here to learn from you, your babies and your journeys, as we guide you through the simple beauty of massaging your baby.
